Benjamin Irritant

Benjamin Irritant

Benjamin Irritant has gained a reputation as of one of London’s most original, hard-working and prolific street artists. His images of politicised rabbits holding placards with messages and slogans have earned him recognition not just on his home turf of East London, but internationally too, with his work appearing on streets from NYC to Kathmandu.

Ben's work often originates from handcut collages using found images from old books and magazines. He began putting them on the street with a budget of £1, photocopying the rabbits and cutting them out before sticking them up all over London with traditional wheatpaste (flour and water) which he cooks up himself. He sees his work as a part of the historical tradition of protest in this country.
